1992

Peter Cornelius Cornelius & Cretu 1992 Cretu's collaboration with Peter Cornelius in 1992 was also documented in all available discographies. The album with Peter Cornelius was distinctly dark and non-commercial. There were two singles released but both the album and singles had short lives and are not very easy to find. The album had a coldfeel about it, which is not typical of Michael Cretu's music, generally bright and optimistic. The tracks had a guitar section that was played by Cornelius, an accomplished guitar player in addition to his being a distinguished song-writer and lyricist. Some tracks contain orchestral simulations that, although well placed within the context of the song, were rather chilling and morbid. The work is definitely of high quality but of understandable limited commercial success. The releases from this collaboration on CD were on East West Records and include: CD-single "Rettungsringe Sterben Aus" ( EW CD 4509-90358-2 ); "Nur Die Hoffnung Nicht" ( EW CD 4509-91633-2 ); and"Cornelius and Cretu" album ( EW CD 4509-90359-2 YS. ).

Also in 1992 Michael Cretu participated in am amusing project for a talent competition sponsored by Marlboro. The CD is a Karaoke unique piece of music composed and produced by Michael Cretu in three versions: a "Rock Mix", a "Pop Mix", and a "Dance Mix". The digipak sleeve reads: "Music composed by Michael Cretu lyrics and vocals by you". The music is rather minimal as it was supposed to be used as a backing track. The disc arrived with a cassette-sleeve for the participant to use as an insert for his/ her recorded material when submitted as a competition entry. The title on the CD is: "Marlboro Music Chartbreaker Song-Competition".

Michael Cretu ~ "I am an optimist and an optimistic realist. I think that life is the way it is. But I think about things a lot: why is life the way it is? ."
